Son of Mrs. Jessie Shuttlewood and the late John Shuttlewood of The Gore, Rayne, Braintree. Born in Dunmow.

George was the younger brother of Ernest (see above) and younger siblings were, Evelin, John, Winifred, Hilda, Dorothy, William and Ashley.

In 1918, John Shuttlewood had two sons baptised at All Saints Rayne on 4th August 1918 and he boys were named Ernest John and George Samuel.

Lived and enlisted in Paddington.

George Shuttlewood, brother of Ernest, was a member of the 2nd/7th Essex Regiment, this was a territorial battalion, which provided training and recruits for the active service battalions. In spring 1916 it was stationed at Thetford in Norfolk and George was a steam wagon driver.
